White Hart, Somerton

I have found another excellent restaurant in Somerset that can really cater for vegans.  No butternut squash, no sweet potato, no bell peppers; bliss!  Instead a real understanding of vegetable cooking giving plenty of taste and umami. I happily chowed down on this dish of 'merguez' spiced aubergine, borlotti bean cassoulet, 'n'duja', and cavolo nero salsa.  So delicious and really satisfying.  Those flavours that you get from a merguez sausage (apart from the small intestine part) of paprika, chilli, cayenne and coriander elevate the dish to give a harmonious balance of heat, smokiness and savoury complexity.  The cavolo nero salsa added a rounded earthy tone to ultimately inspire me to replicate the dish at some point.

It was all matched with a calming, and sedate interior making it a wonderful place to dine on a very hot day in June.  Go now to the White Hart in Somerton... you will in for a treat.
