Festival Special: Vegan Food @ Port Eliot Festival 2016

Port Eliot Festival 2016 - View of the River Tiddy
What can say about the Port Eliot Festival; great weather, great scenery, great events and very importantly, great food.  Thinking I wasn't going to have very much choice for food I was overwhelmed by the choice and variety of vegan food.

Luardos
First up Luardos; hailing from the big smoke and serving up a tempting selection of authentic burritos and nachos. I happily scoffed a jam packed burrito with black beans, hot salsa, and fresh guacamole. I asked for hot and I surely got it.  Great start to the festival.

Happy Maki

Next up was this wonderful fresh vegan sushi roll from Happy Maki who hail from Hampshire.  Very tasty and healthy supper whilst wondering around by the River Tiddy

Deli Pops

The real star for me were these 'proper' ice lollies from Deli Pops, truly refreshing, fruity ice lollies. I just tried this gooseberry and elderflower ice lolly and was pining for more; almost worth a trip down to Cornwall to try some of the other delicious flavours; especially Grandma's Lemonade.

FFS

FFS or Feral Food Store really show how vegan food has progressed; infusing world flavours into simple street food that elevates the humble burger into a tasty meat free onslaught of flavours.  The burger with smoked tofu rinds, raw summer veg slaw,  and coconut yoghurt with tahini and spinkling of sumac was truly devine; loved it.  The korean barbeque style cauliflower was a salty soy sauce smack in mouth that just a delight.  I will definately be replicating this in my cooking at home.... just need to find the gochujang!

Dosa Deli

Glad I found this food stall; Dosa Deli from London to indulge my passion for dosa.... they sold a flavoursome Mysore masala dosa wrap which consisted of a stuffed dosa with potato masala, garlic peanut and chilli crumble, and fresh red onions alongside delicious bhel puri.

Wild Food Kitchen

Lastly I found this moreish stall selling wild nettle falafel and chips with local seaweed sprinkles (very good).  Wild Food Kitchen  hail from Cornwall and you guessed it specialize in foraged food.
